I went chunky-funky with some scrap 2" thick boards. These are the one piece bases that I cut and routed. I'm working on the centers but the paint on them was still wet. I'm not sure if I'll add any metal to these, as they look kind of fun without it - I may have to do an Insta-Poll and see what you all think of metal vs non-metal. I made these blue rustic flowers from salvaged wood and metal. The base is about 2" thick and was painted in turquoise and chocolate brown, then distressed and sealed. The frilly pieces were hand cut from salvaged soup and beverage cans, then primed and painted with exterior color. These are not yet fully assembled, but they'll be ready to hang with an exterior wire. They're good for indoor or outdoor display. These are my newest flowers - slightly smaller than what I usually make. I posted these in their raw state last week but here they are painted, though not yet assembled. I painted them with a border, then distressed both the flower base and center. I added just a bit of salvaged metal - I cut down some beverage cans for the frilly look around the center. This is a close-up of a #metalflower I hand painted for a customer. I used some deep #aubergine spray paint, along with some acrylics for the detailing.
