Do you find it easier to work with some colours rather than others? I definitely feel that with these. There just seems to be an intrinsic understanding of colour that spills out into the painting sometimes. I don’t think it’s because I’ve done lots of paintings in these colours, maybe it’s just an affinity I have with warm colours. Big shapes, little shapes today, just wandering my way round the composition to see what’s there. Warm Colours, Encaustic Art, Intrinsic, Mixed Media Artwork, Cnd, Australian Artists, Mark Making

Time for a change of scenery – back to my colour studies to refresh the old grey matter. Exploring the colour triad of Blue-Green, Red-Violet and Yellow-Orange. This is a colour combo that’s already feeling good and fun to explore. I did actually use Turquoise for the Blue-Green but next to the other colours It just looks plain old blue….colour interactions….. Colour Combo, Triad, Blue Green, Yellow, Color Studies

This is just the beginnings of a hand printed paper collage. These base layers of collage were gradually worked over with paint and drawing media. It will be part of a collection of artworks created using the process, which I will be releasing soon. I have lots of ways for you to follow my creative journey, choose an option to suit you and I’ll keep you up to date with studio happenings. You can view the collection and read the story behind these works on my website. Art Tools, Funky Art

Using a toning grey in the top section of this piece felt like the right thing to do at the time to block out some of the busyness that was happening and create a solid area that allowed me to define some interesting shapes. My intention was to go over it with another colour but once it was on the painting I realised that it elevated the reds in the piece to a whole new level of vibration, so I left it as it was.
