Day dress, North American, ca. 1858-60. Green is ribbed weave pressed into watered pattern & black is lush satin weave. Skirt fastens center back. Most of the fullness of 8 panels is in very small gathers at center back. Some fullness is tucked into knife pleats on sides, leaving little to gather in front, which falls closer to body.
