The first troops of the United States expeditionary force to Europe arrive in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The troops disembarked at the Spencer Basin and the photograph shows a detachment marching along Duncrue Street. 26/1/1942. That is officially, as naval personnel had already been visiting the port of Londonderry, civilian contractors were already building USAAF bases, notably Station 597(Langford Lodge), & some AAF crew were flying with RAF for experience, with Coastal Command.
