Passage in Newgrange Megalithic Tomb. At sunrise on the mid-winter Solstice, a shaft of sunlight pierces the narrow opening above the entrance. Slowly, light travels the passage and illuminates the chamber.
Castle Roche in Co. Louth was known in the old records as "Castlellum de Rupe". It is a Norman castle built in 1236 AD and is one of the most spectacular castles in Ireland. Castle Roche is located in the hills north-west of Dundalk, It was the seat of the De Verdon family.
