Some of the first telephone boxes to grace Dublin's streets. Installation was in preparation for the thousands of people who descended on the capital from all over Ireland, and from all over the world, for the 31st International Eucharistic Congress in June 1932. An old fashioned, coin-operated, Irish Telephone Box - Broadford, Co. Kildare, Ireland
We took some pictures of this beautifully maintained "Telephone Box" In Broadford, Co. Kildare (only a stone's throw from the border with County Meath) on Sunday 24th June 2012. Broadford is a tiny village and the telephone box has long since been decommissioned with the arrival of mobile phones and Internet communication. But the local community have maintained it and it remains a stunning example of a bygone era. It is a reminder of how things used to be in Ireland. We have a nice picture…
