French Sofa Redo | Edith & Evelyn
I have had an ongoing search for an antique French sofa forever……… I finally found one at an estate sale in the South! I dreamed of painting it in Annie Sloan Old White and covering the upholstery in vintage grain sacks. When I saw this sad looking little lady, I could hardly contain my happy ... Upholstering a French settee with salvaged grain sack scraps
Upholstering a French settee with grain sack scraps! I recently made a few changes in the little breakfast room area off of the kitchen. One of those changes included a little french settee that I’ve had in storage. I bought it a couple of years ago at an estate sale and loved the size and ... Vintage Nest
Vintage Nest began with my passion for scouring the antique markets on weekends for that unusual find - - the thrill of the hunt! Along the way I realized that I wanted to spend more and more time re-purposing my finds and expressing my inner desire to be creative. By early 2006 I had accumulated well over two storage units full of furniture and home accessories from my antique explorations. Not to mention that we could no longer park our 2 cars in the garage because this too was overflowing…
THE BEAUTY OF BURLAP
Burlap is good for so much more than just a sack race! It seems like every time I open up a decor magazine there is some piece of furniture upholstered in burlap. I love it! Burlap is a coarse woven fabric usually made of jute or other vegetable fibers. It is durable, breathable and environmentally friendly. The texture of burlap may have you thinking it may be just for rustic country decor, but just take a look at this daybed sofa with French Empire carving from…
When Decorating
Like so many, I have a passion for Marie Antoinette! All the details and decorations, the color combinations, weather a dress, a shoe or a cake! It's all so amazingly beautiful. And what a great source of inspiration can be found just by looking at a few pictures from this time. These shoes are from the movie Sofia Coppola made about Marie Antoinette.
