The Battle of Vinegar Hill was an engagement during the Irish Rebellion of 1798. Over 15,000 British soldiers launched an attack on Vinegar Hill outside Enniscorthy in County Wexford. it was the last vain attempt by the rebels using just pikes to hold and defend ground against the vastly superior fire-power of the British Military.
Wexford is a historic little town filled with curiosities that stretch back through the ages. Castles that date back to the 12th and 13th centuries are nestled beside commemorations of rebellions past, and just outside the town is a haunted house that will make your hair stand on end… but Wexford is more than just its history.
