Imbolc: Brighid's Day (#Imbolc). It interests me that the poem says it's midwinter, even though Imbolc is in Feb. and midwinter is generally another name for Yule. This is what happens when people mix calendars.

Imbolc or "in the womb" is said to refer to the growing bellies of the Ewes who were kept by the the Celts and so important to their lively hood. Imbolc Brigid's Cross Mini Broom/Besom Ornament/Charm/Decor
This lovely little broom/besom is 6 inches tall by about 5 inches at its widest point. It features a 2 inch Brigid's Cross handmade out of wheat by Etsy's own Vermorlian. This is the very last one I have - it was rescued from a candle that my husband (Yes, the grown-up and not one of my 4 young children!) set on fire. Below it hangs some Celtic knotwork and a beaded dangle made of Carnelian, Crab Fire Agate and Cherry Fire Quartz(glass). For more information on Imbolc and the goddess…
The painting of the Goddess Brigid or St. Brigid inside the icon box. Included are symbols of Brigid: Brigid's cross, the oak tree, dawn light, sheep, her green cloak, and the metalwork brooch and cross around her neck. She is also sitting on a hill, for she is the Goddes of "high places". Copyright Karin Bolstad 2012
