photos of Marilyn taken by George Barris in late Marilyn Monroe June 1962 on Santa Monica Beach, where she's frolicking and wrapped in a green towel. These are also one of her photo shoots, shortly before her death in August
She was so misunderstood. Far from stupid, she let life get the best of her. At the height of her fame, Monroe wrote her autobiography My Story (with help from her friend screenwriter Ben Hecht). The book was not published until a decade after her death.
This has to be one of the best pictures of Marilyn Monroe I've ever seen--the modeling of her face, the naturalness of her smile, and the surroundings that seem like a home. A great image of her as a person, not an icon.
