Born in Dublin, WB Yeats moved to Sligo – now fondly called ‘Yeats Country’ – with his family as a child. The beautiful surroundings of the west were a major inspiration for much of Yeats’ most celebrated work. He called Sligo itself, “The Land of Heart’s Desire.” His grave, set in the stillness of Drumcliffe, is one of the most frequently visited in Ireland.
