Gáirdín an Ghorta Newmarket, Hugginstown, County Kilkenny | Date TBC  This is a 150th Anniversary Famine Commemorative Garden. It is the only living garden commemorating the 150th anniversary of Gorta Mór 1845-1848. Emulating Arcadia, a pastoral paradise was created to reflect Man’s harmony with the perfection of nature.   Enabling Man’s spirit to rejoice at the wonder of nature. Monksgrange Garden Enniscorthy, county Wexford | July 1st, 1pm - 6pm  A 3 acre garden sheltered by woodland with a collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, as well as specimen trees and shrubs.   With its collection of sculpture, niche gardens and champion trees (a Cercidyphilum and a Drymis Winterii) Monksgrange, offering peaceful corners to sit and relax in, is also a joy to roam and explore.  www.redcross.ie/opengardens

The idea is simple: you open your garden for an afternoon or a day; we provide you with a volunteer to help you with the practicalities; guests pay a small entrance fee; and together we deliver food, water and medical supplies to children and families in Ireland and around the world.
