AYO Foods Waakye
Eric Adjepong (of Top Chef fame) has partnered with AYO Foods to introduce two ways to try West African cuisine. The recipes he’s developed for the brand are as follows: Waakye, a Ghanaian rice and red peas dish, and Chicken Yassa, a Senegalese marinated chicken dish prepared with onions, lemons, or mustard. I’m sure it’s no equal to the version made by his own hands IRL, but as we retreat back into our homes again (hello, Omicron), count me in for any chance to try a Top Chef’s cuisine.
Cadence Kitchen Pasta
First, there’s the Five Cheese Fiochetti, egg pasta pouch filled with ricotta, Parmesan, Gouda, fontina, and Romano cheese beneath a sauce of grass-fed beef Bolognese. Then there’s the brand’s first gluten-free dish, Macaroni and Cheese using red lentil pasta, a barbecue cheese sauce, and chicken breast. Deep Indian Kitchen Frozen Meals
Deep Indian Kitchen is making four of its recipes available at select Walmart locations across the country for the first time. You’ll be able to get the major classics — Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Spinach Paneer — at this new outlet.
Boomerang - Beef Shepherd's Pie
Boomerang's Beef Shepherd's Pie features "all-natural beef and veggies with a mashed potato topping." The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy but a little gooey and tacky--like they had been overworked. Underneath the mashed potatoes was a layer of ground beef, corn, carrots, peas, and gravy. Overall, Boomerang's Beef Shepherd's Pie was just okay for me. Unfortunately, the feel of the mashed potatoes and beef was less than desirable and the general taste was a bit plain.
RealGood Foods Entrées
Moving beyond sweet treats, RealGood Foods’ introduces two Italian-inspired combos to their lineup of grain-free, gluten-free, high-protein, frozen entrées: Marinara Ricotta Cannelloni and Chicken Alfredo Cannelloni. Like their cheese and chicken enchiladas, these swap the traditional carb encasing for a cheesy, chicken-based wrapper. The antibiotic-free white meat is the texture of a carved slice of roasted chicken.
