Horse-drawn Omnibus, Westmoreland Street, Dublin
Today we have the battle of the horse-drawn tram versus omnibus photos. It's Cork (the real capital of Ireland?) versus Dublin (the real capital of Ireland!). Which is the best image? That might be a little subjective, so perhaps which can we find out the most about? Date: 1863-1866 (thanks DannyM8) NLI Ref: STP_0077 You can also view this image, and many thousands of others, on the NLI’s catalogue at catalogue.nli.ie
Henry Street Dublin 1960s - always busy and bustling with shoppers. Woolworths on left much loved for Christmas shopping. In the foreground one of the women is about to carry home a parriffin heater. The little boy is carrying a set of pram wheels and will probably use them to make a trolley with twine steering for whizzing down hills. !
