Irish Rebellion, May 1916
The Samuels Collection consists of printed ephemera of the 1916 Rebellion, World War I, the War of Independence and the Civil War. It was gathered in part by the Royal Irish Constabulary, and collected by Arthur Warren Samuels, Solicitor General for Ireland (1917-1918) and Attorney General (1918-1919). It was presented to the Library in the 1960's.
Michael Collins. A leader of the Irish Rebellion. Director of Intelligence during the rebellion and later led the Irish Delegation in negotiations with the British to enact the Anglo-Irish Peace Treaty. Assassinated in 1922 during the Irish Civil War - he was 32 years old.

Joseph Plunkett was an Irish soldier during the Rising. He marries Grace Gifford in Jail in Dublin Ireland hours before he is executed. Joseph Plunkett was one of the leaders of the Easter Rising in 1916. They fought for Irish freedom from British rule.
