Traditionally, Songkran Festival is a time when Thai people visit their parents and elders. As an act of respect, the Thai will pour perfumed water onto the hands of their parents and ask for their blessing. The water is often perfumed by flower petals that have a beautiful smell, such as jasmine, rose and cananga. Other small flowers used in Thai floral culture, for example, crown flowers and small white gardenias, are also added for their delicate look.
