Michael Collins was an Irish patriot. He was a hero to many Irish people. Brave, loyal, and filled with a great love for his country, he was willing to do anything to help them. Even if it meant sacrificing himself.
“You are seven minutes late Mr. Collins” Michael Collins replied “We’ve been waiting over seven hundred years, you can have the extra seven minutes”. On this day 1922 Dublin Castle was handed over by the British.
Sinn Fein leader and Commander-In-Chief of the Irish Free State Army Michael Collins (1890 - 1922) at the Curragh Barracks in County Kildare with Col Dunphy, Major General Emmet Dalton, Comdt-Gen P MacMahon and Comdt-Gen D O'Hegarty. Collins took part in the Easter Rising of 1916 and in 1921 he negotiated the peace treaty with Britain.
