Since Feb has arrived I will show my layout for the first week. This was inspired by a layout I saw on Pinterest. I just bought the Staedler Triplus Highlighters in lovely pastel colours and I adore them. Edit: that's not white out, I photoshop brushed over the personal info before posting. #pulltheotherthread #bulletjournal #layout #february Pastel Colours, Highlighters, February, About Me Blog, Photoshop, Bullet Journal, Layout, Inspired, Stuff To Buy

First Pair of Hand Knit Socks!!

Hey everyone, hope you all had a lovely holiday season and New Year. Have you made any resolutions? I haven't made any concrete craft plans for this year but I'm really hoping to get Elegance of the Orient finished. I would also like to make some progress on HAED QS Clara. You can find my last posts on these pieces here and here. Another project that needs some attention is my Sirdar Blur cardigan, it only needs to be blocked, stitched together and the decorative piece around the front knit…

Sometimes I really miss sending and receiving real letters. It's nice when I get something other an a bill on my doormat in the morning. Hand Stamped, Etsy Store, About Me Blog, Letters, Writing, Doormat, Unique Jewelry, Handmade Gifts, Communication

Do you miss real letters?

Is it just me or does anyone else really miss sending and receiving letters in the post. In our time of digital communication, it is very easy to connect with people and sometimes that came be really great. However I sometimes miss that little rush of receiving an actual letter that isn't a bill. With this thought in mind I decided to make these two writing sets. They are hand stamped and embossed with two complimentary images and the envelopes for each are also stamped and embossed. The…

Homemade Foodie Goodies: Tomato Chutney

I hope you will all enjoy this post. This is a recipe that I have used for the last few years to make a Tomato Chutney for Christmas presents. My family love this and I decided to make some more as most of them have managed to polish off the Christmas batch. The before shot: Chutney Prep This is quite a simple recipe and can be found online here: Tomato Chutney Recipe. I would give one piece of advice if anyone decides to try this recipe and that is, use large onions. This recipe calls for…

Help Prevent Cross Stitch Miscounts: Gridding Tutorial

Today I want to talk a bit about fabric gridding. This is a tutorial I have been planning on doing for a long time. In my opinion, gridding is a must for stitching complex patterns and is also extremely useful if you use the parking technique. You can find my parking tutorial here What is Gridding? Gridding is the process of dividing a piece of fabric into 10x10 stitch blocks corresponding to the divisions on a cross stitch pattern, which helps prevent counting errors. In patterns where…

Ever found how certain back stitching can be really difficult on Aida? Check out this post which explores how evenweave can be a good alternative for that awkward back stitching. Back Stitch, Cross Stitching, Awkward, Alternative, About Me Blog, Check, Punto De Cruz

Back Stitching on Aida and Why Sometimes it's Torturous

When I first started out cross stitching, I really disliked back stitching. I found it extremely time consuming and often very difficult. Over the years I have found ways of making this aspect of cross stitching some what easier. (I will be doing a post on some of the methods I use to make my back stitching more enjoyable and also better looking in a later post.) However some charts have complicated back stitching and using Aida makes the process close to nightmarish. Why some back stitching…

Homemade Food Goodies: Buttermilk Scones

Well today I decided I would try baking some scones. I have always enjoyed baking but I haven't done much in recent years. So in an attempt to get back into baking and cooking regularly as well as trying to improve my diet I am going to post some food goodies from now on so I hope you all enjoy. Homemade Buttermilk Scones I have made scones before, fairly recently, but they didn't really turn out very well. I got the Masterchef Cookery Course book as it has lots of really nice basic recipes…
