Strand Rd Derry City Centre 1950s. 99% of the business belong to Protestant people of Derry. Ironically the Bogside was a 5 minute walk from Strand Rd. It was difficult for Irish Catholics to obtain jobs in the City Centre. Often jobs offer where low paid demeaning jobs.
Howard Street Bogside 1950s. Bunting where put up every 9th June to celebrate the patron Saint Columba. Howard Street has long be knocked down. 3 to 4 Catholics families where forced to live in these poor accommodation.
