Thomas Paine (English born American author) Known for his pamphlets of pro-prerevolutionary writings called Common Sense. Without his writings George Washington claimed the American Revolution would of been in vain. He also wrote the book the Age of Reason and moved to France. He participated in France's Revolution and wrote The Rights of Man. His writings involved the ideas of reason and free thinking.
