A Roman pillar molded mosaic glass bowl. ...probably made in Italy between AD 1 & AD 50. ... It was formed by allowing a thick disc of hot glass to sag over a round convex mold &, while still hot enough to manipulate, using pincers to pull out the ribs from the side. The blue & white design was created by packing together thick slices of blue & white glass cane... & allowing them to fuse... Now in The British Museum. Photo Credit: Clio Ancient Art & Antiquities.
