Vintage Photographs From Inside 10 Famous Libraries
It's no secret that we're fans of beautiful libraries here, but it's not only gorgeous architecture and shiny mahogany work benches that excite us. Inspired by a wonderful collection of vintage photographs of the New York Public Library's stacks that we spotted over at Retronaut, we decided to put ...
Back Lane: Remains Of Old City Wall (Dublin - Ireland)
This wall was once part of the original Newgate prison in Dublin. Newgate Prison was a place of detention in Dublin until its closure in 1863. It was initially located at Cornmarket, near Christ Church Cathedral, on the south side of the Liffey, and was originally one of the city gates. An official enquiry determined that John Hawkins who ran the Newgate prison was paid an annual salary of £10, yet received £1150 in bribes.

I Like This Old Style Phone Kiosk On Dawson Street - A K1 Or A Copy of A K1
I have been advised that this is either a KI or a copy of a K1. The first standard public telephone kiosk introduced by the United Kingdom Post Office was produced in concrete in 1920 and was designated K1 (Kiosk No.1). This design was not of the same family as the familiar red telephone boxes. Very few remarkable examples remain. One shining example is located in Trinity market in Kingston-upon-Hull where it is still in use today.
